Rat Tail Shock Apparatus

The rat tail shock apparatus is mainly used in studies involving animal model of stress, anxiety and/or depression.

The E93-91R Coulbourn tail shock apparatus for rats consists of a base and a clear Plexiglas restrainer. When the animal is restrained on the base its tail is positioned underneath two electrically isolated metal clamps built into the base. A two-pole cable connects these clamps to a Coulbourn shock generator to stimulate the tail. The Graphic State software is currently used for programming the timing of the shock stimulations.

The system can be used with a single animal or with multiple animals tied in series.
